William Marion Dutton (Bill), aged 72, currently of West End, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, surrounded by his children.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023 at 4:00pm at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Southern Pines with Military Honors.
Bill was born January 23, 1951 in Moore County to the late Robert Louis Dutton and Dorothy Cole Dutton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Linda Kimmons, of Tennessee. And more recently by his ex-wife, Jennie N. Dutton, who spent much of their time together.
He is survived by his children, Annie Titus (Rick) of Greensboro, Dorothy Dutton of Southport, and Connor Dutton of West End; grandson Charlie Titus; and sisters Elsie Akerson of Washington State, and Bobbie Dabbs of Charlotte.
Bill spent much of his life as a machinist at Ingersoll-Rand, after his service in the Army. He loved military history, and science fiction movies. He was open and loved to talk openly about all the possibilities of space, science, and time. He is remembered fondly for his love and care of the stray cats in the neighborhood, his silly sense of humor and his kind heart. He was a loving father and will be missed by many.
