William “Hub” Herbert Kimball, age 86, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2023, at his home.
Hub was born in Moore County on June 19, 1936, to the late James Franklin Kimball and Margaret Crabtree Evans. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his children, Susan Sineath, Joyce Smith, David Kimball and Terry Kimball, sisters, Alzadea McRae, Peggy Prince, and Rebecca Carrington, brother, James Franklin Kimball, Jr.
He is survived by his daughter, Beverly Cummings of Sanford, son, Gary Kimball of Vass; daughter-in-law, Brenda Kimball of Cameron; fifteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He proudly served in law enforcement with the Vass and Aberdeen Police Department as well as a Firefighter with the Vass Fire Department. He also worked at Keith’s Hardware and owned and operated Kimball’s Wrecker Service.
Some of Hub’s favorite pastimes were working on old cars and watching John Wayne movies. He was a huge fan and always wanted to be a cowboy. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at 3:00pm at Open Arms Community Church with Pastor John Brown officiating. A time of visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 2:00-3:00. Burial will follow in Johnson Grove Cemetery in Vass.
